Coming Out to Dead People
A comedy solo show based on the time when comedian Ricky Sim was grappling with the decision to come out to his Chinese-Malaysian immigrant mother, just as she was diagnosed with terminal cancer – talk about good timing!
Combining stand-up and storytelling, the show explores growing up as a gaysian in the noughties in NY, learning how to keep his first boyfriend with the help of the rapper Sean Paul, while navigating the complexity of coming out, alongside the intersection of racial and cultural identity.
