THE MARY HOULIHAN SHOW IS OUT NOW

A VIDEO PODCAST AT YouTube.com/maryhoulihan

Everyone Else Has One, But This One Actually Gives a Shit

Mary Houlihan, the illustrious standup comedian, writer, actress and artist praised by Time Out New York as a “gonzo genius,” launches her newest project today: The Mary Houlihan Show, now streaming on YouTube.com/maryhoulihan.

Known for her genuine, offbeat comedy and singular characters, Houlihan shifts into a more stripped down ethos with this series, looking towards interviewer stalwarts like Larry King and Howard Stern. She appears as herself, hosting direct, curious conversations with people she finds genuinely compelling. Early episodes feature an eclectic mix of guests including the hilariously veracious comics Jay Jurden, Brodie Reed, Jake Flores, Myq Kaplan, and James Fritz, New York priest Father Mike Lopez, trans activist Amber Flannery Field, stylist and activist Sophie Strauss, and Oliver Ma, candidate for California lieutenant governor. The show blends humor, vulnerability, and thoughtful dialogue across a wide spectrum of perspectives.

Houlihan’s knack for getting to the heart of things has made marks before. Her viral “gotcha” interview with Martin Shkreli, which started as a casual chat about hip hop before pivoting into pointed questions about HIV drug pricing and physical pratfalls, remains a defining example of what she’s capable of. With The Mary Houlihan Show, she pivots from confrontation to connection, spotlighting people doing grounded, meaningful work and offering ideas that don’t often get oxygen in mainstream media.

“I’m so excited the podcast is out,” Houlihan says. “I do see a lot of people be less vocal about certain social issues, such as Palestine or the war on trans healthcare, because they don’t want to offend an executive, or they don’t want to look like a divisive personality that might scare off a network. I have felt that pressure myself. But I need to do what I think is right. Especially with so many media companies right now firing journalists and leaning into rightwing ideology, I really just want to platform people who have something good to say, whether it’s about an issue that doesn’t get talked about enough, or trying to bridge the cultural divide.”

The Mary Houlihan Show is available to watch now.
